Dreaming about a European vacation and need to choose a city? There are two types of cities; Prague and Budapest which are among the widely visited cities all over the world with different characteristics and excitements. There is a question that almost every traveler always wants to know; that is the cost of visiting these cities. Here in the blog post, we will have to compare the total spending in these two cities of Prague and Budapest for you to decide.

However, it is necessary to mention certain preliminary information of the currency and the rates in Prague and Budapest. Czech Republic has Prague and it currency is CZK and Hungary has Budapest and its currency is HUF. One must consider it helpful to determine the up to date exchange rate so that one may compare the value of the currency of the country one is in to the foreign currency of each city.

In regard to the accommodation most of the hostels and hotels can be found in Prague and Budapest in various price categories. It will be easy to find accommodation for each type of traveler; you have luxury hotels in both cities, boutique guesthouse, hostels for a more budget-conscious traveler, apartments for rent. But as for the accommodation, in most cases Prague falls slightly in the higher price level than Budapest.

Food and Drinks

Going around different places requires that people taste different foods. The cuisine of Prague include Czech specialties like goulash and trdelník, on the other hand you can taste Hungarian meals in Budapest including goulash soup and trdelník. It means no matter what type of eatery you are willing to pay for, you will be able to find many restaurants and cafes in both cities.

But prices may indeed differ and in general people found Budapest more affordable than Prague particularly when it comes to meals and beverages. A solid breakfast or supper in a local restaurant or several sticks of street food are affordable at most of these places.

Transportation

To explore a city the necessary means of transport is needed. In both Prague and Budapest the most common means of Public transport are buses, trams, and metros. Both cities have single journey tickets for the tourists and also there are many day tickets from one day to four days.

However, among transport expenses, customers using services in Prague are likely to incur lower expenses than compared to Budapest. The ticket and passes charges are affordable in Prague and within these, one can mover around the city conveniently. While, the transportation costs for Budapest are slightly higher than that of Prague.

Sightseeing and Attractions

Prague as well as Budapest are two cities with glimpses of rich history, and visitors can find numerous cultural or historical sites to see. Famous tourist sites includes the castle, the Charles Bridge and the Astronomical Clock. Historical buildings of the city are also famous for architecture just like parliament building, Buda castle and Fisherman Bastion.

In terms of the costs of enticing visitors to tourists sites, there may be some attractions that would require some charges for entry but over all it is relatively cheaper for tourists to sight see around both cities. However, it should be put in mind that there are three more attractions located in Budapest that can be toured without paying a penny.

Nightlife and Entertainment

For lovers of night life and entertainment, Prague will not disappoint them same as the Budapest City. Nine nights out of the ten nights, they offer impressive nightlife throughout bars and club houses in the city including Prague. As for entertainment, there are an interesting number of opportunities, and Budapest is famous for its so-called ruin bars.

Compared to nightlife and entertainment, Budapest is somewhat cheaper than Prague. In comparison to Prague, you can have fun going out at night with your partner without as much spends as you would be used to.

Conclusion

To sum up, it is possible to state that although both cities are rather interesting destinations, Budapest is considered to be rather more economical than Prague. The cost of accommodation and food and beverages, transport and the nightlife is relatively cheaper in Budapest. But let me also inform that the prices are individual and depend on a time to visit the restaurant.

In conclusion, depending on your intentions and interests the choice between Prague and Budapest should be made.
